What is


#SpanishChorizoDay is an action being carried out by the Spanish Chorizo Consortium from 11 November, in remembrance of the festivity of St. Martin of Tours, a day with a great tradition in the Spanish popular culture.

Traditionally, it was during this period when pigs were sacrificed, matching with the Winter season, essential for the chorizo curing process, especially in the countryside and the small towns of Spain, where this day meant the end and the beginning of the agricultural year.

From the Spanish Chorizo Consortium we want to commemorate this traditional change of cycle, along with chefs and gastronomic bloggers of Spain, France, United Kingdom and Germany. The action is aimed to:

  • Spread the gastronomic potential of the authentic Spanish Chorizo.
  • Explain that consuming #SpanishChorizo in an adequate amount is beneficial due to its proteins, vitamins and minerals, always within a balanced diet and healthy habits.

How is #SpanishChorizoDay going to develop?

Once you signed up in our oficial participation form in #SpanishChorizoDay, from the Spanish Chorizo Consortium we will send you the contestant pack, consisting of:

  • A packet with a spicy chorizo ring, our flagship format.
  • A packet with diced chorizo, ideal for cooking
  • A packet of chorizo snacks, ready to eat.
  • A chopping board and a knife.
  • An official apron from the Spanish Chorizo Consortium.
